Is anything really "ordinary"?

Well - I have officially taken the first step! I got into the rhythm of reading the Bible in a year program by doing today's reading. The O.T. reading was in Zachariah - a book I have to admit I'm not as familiar with as I should be. Today in Chapter 14, Zachariah was talking about the return of Christ vs 20, "At that time the words "Dedicated to the LORD" will be engraved on the bells worn by horses. In fact, every ordinary cooking pot in Jerusalem will be just as sacred to the LORD All-Powerful as the bowls used at the altar. Any one of them will be acceptable for boiling the meat of sacrificed animals, and there will no longer be a need to sell special pots and bowls." In other words, when the Lord returns, everything we do and use is going to be holy, sacred, set apart for Him - even to the harnesses of the horses and the cooking pots. It gets me wondering why I seperate my life into so many little "compartments" now. Since the Lord brought up cooking pots - I just this morning bought some new storage containers for our kitchen because we have several that have no lid and we have some lids that have no container and it was driving me to distraction!!! So I had finally, completely had enough!! But did the Lord consider that money that I spent on those storage containers any less sacred than the money we spend sponsoring a child in the Philippines through a Christian organization? Or is it all His money "Dedicated to the LORD"? And is the time I spend at work any less sacred than the time I spend at church - or is it all His time "Dedicated to the LORD"?
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts - and see if there be any areas in me that are not wholy "Dedicated to the LORD". (see Ps 139:23)

  1. HI Lisa! I am now following you sister. I am thinking that I too need to pray the Psalm 139 scripture. Happy New Year to you and yours.
